7th Pay Commission is the most popular and important pay commission for the central as well as state government employees. The Seventh Pay Commission was headed by the retired Supreme Court Judge Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur.

Mr. Justice A. K. Mathur – 7th Pay Commission Chairman
Mr. Justice A. K. Mathur was the chairman of 7th Pay Commission. He was born on 7th July, 1943. He completed M.A. L.L.B and joined Rajasthan High Court as an Advocate.
He got promotion from this place and then appointed as Assistant then Deputy Government Advocate in Jodhpur between 1977 – 1978. Later on, he was selected as Additional Judge and then Permanent Judge in Rajasthan High Court. From 3rd February 1996, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh.
On 7th June 2004, Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur was appointed as the Judge in the Supreme Court of India. He was retired on 7th August 2008.
Mr. Vivek Rae – Full Time Member of Seventh Pay Commission
Mr. Rae was an Indian Administrative Service officer from 1978 batch. As an IAS officer, he has lots of experience of social and economic sector, health, education, different type of financial planning. Mr. Vivek Rae has served as the Deputy Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh in between 1985 – 1988.
Later on, he joined as the Assistant Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme in duration of year 1991 to year 1995 in Delhi. After that assignment, he worked as the Financial Secretary and Planning Secretary in Goa. From 2002 to 2006, he worked as the Joint Secretary in the Government of India.
Rathin Roy – Part Time Member of 7th Pay Commission of India
Mr. Roy holds Ph.D in Economics from Cambridge University, UK. Mr. Roy worked as the Director of NIPFP, Director of Asian Pacific Regional Center Bangkok, Director of IPC-IG, Public Resource Management Advisor, and Economic Advisor of the Finance Commission of India.
